Linux server backup
Linux server backup, kept in the EU
Your Linux servers run the systems nobody wants to rebuild. Mindtime backs them up with a lightweight agent to immutable storage in Dutch and German data centres, and checks every job.
In short
What is Linux server backup?
Linux server backup with Mindtime copies your servers to immutable, off-site storage in the Netherlands and Germany. A lightweight agent sends AES-256 encrypted data, every backup job is restore-tested automatically, and you can bring back single files and folders.
- What we back up
- Linux servers
- How
- A lightweight agent, AES-256 encrypted in transit
- Where it is stored
- Tier III data centres in the Netherlands and Germany
- How you restore
- Single files and folders, through the self-service console
The risk
The servers nobody wants to rebuild
Linux servers often run for years without anyone checking whether their backup still works.
58%
Untested restores fail
A backup nobody has restored is an assumption. Mindtime restore-tests every job automatically.
Ransomware
Backups are a target
Ransomware groups go after backups first. Only immutable copies survive.
One site
Same building, same risk
A backup in the same server room is lost with it in a fire, flood or theft.
What's covered
Servers and what runs on them
Running databases or virtual machines on Linux? They have their own engine-aware protection.

- Files and folders
- Granular restore
Engine-aware
Databases on Linux
- Engine-aware backups
- Point-in-time recovery

What's included
How Mindtime protects it
Standard with every Mindtime backup, on top of the 3-2-1-1-0 rule and immutable storage in the Netherlands and Germany.
Immutable by default
Object Lock storage plus an air-gapped copy. Ransomware can't encrypt or delete your backups.
Checked on every job
Every backup is restore-tested automatically.
Granular restore
Bring back a single file or a folder from any backup.
Encrypted end to end
AES-256 encryption between your server and our data centres.
EU-only data residency
Every byte stays in the Netherlands and Germany, under EU law.
Monitored 24/7
We watch every job and act on alerts.
How it works
Up and running in three steps
No rip-and-replace and no long project. Our team helps you at every step.
- 01
Assess
We map your Linux servers, what runs on them and your recovery targets, in a free assessment.
- 02
Deploy and protect
A lightweight agent sends AES-256 encrypted backups to our Dutch and German data centres.
- 03
Monitor and recover
Every job is checked, 24/7. Restore files and folders when you need to.
FAQ
Common questions
Agent or agentless?
Linux servers are protected with a lightweight agent. Linux VMs on a hypervisor such as KVM or Proxmox can also be backed up agentless at the hypervisor level.
Which Linux distributions do you support?
Tell us what you run in the free assessment and we'll confirm support for your estate.
Can I back up databases on Linux?
Yes. Databases running on your Linux servers get engine-aware backups with point-in-time recovery. See Database backup.
Where is my data stored?
Only in Tier III data centres in the Netherlands and Germany, under EU law.
