Endpoint backup
Every laptop, every location, backed up
Your servers are backed up. Your team's laptops, at home, in a café or on a train, usually aren't. Mindtime backs up every device continuously and stores the data only in the EU.
In short
What is Endpoint backup?
Endpoint backup protects the data on laptops and other devices, wherever they are. Mindtime runs continuously in the background, works without a VPN, and keeps immutable copies in the Netherlands and Germany, so a lost laptop or a ransomware attack doesn't cost anyone their work.
- What we back up
- Windows, macOS and Linux devices
- How
- A small agent with block-level change tracking, AES-256 encrypted before data leaves the device
- Where it is stored
- Tier III data centres in the Netherlands and Germany
- How you restore
- Users restore files themselves in seconds; IT restores a full device in under 30 minutes
The risk
Servers are backed up. Laptops are not.
The data that runs your business doesn't live only on servers. It lives on every laptop, and much of it has never been backed up.
52%
Remote devices are involved
52% of 2025 security incidents involved a remote worker's device. Ransomware often starts on a laptop and spreads.
Sync
Sync is not backup
If ransomware encrypts a laptop, the encrypted files sync straight to OneDrive. Sync isn't immutable, versioned backup.
Residency
US tools break residency
Many backup tools store data in the US, which creates GDPR and NIS2 exposure for EU laptops.
What's covered
Windows, macOS and Linux, one platform
Mixed environments are managed from a single console.
10, 11 and Server
Windows
- Bare-metal and file recovery
- Deploy via Intune, GPO or MSI
12 Monterey and newer
macOS
- Documents, Desktop, app data and profiles
- Deploy via Jamf or Intune
Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, RHEL
Linux
- Developer and engineering workstations
- File-level recovery
What's included
How Mindtime protects it
Standard with every Mindtime backup, on top of the 3-2-1-1-0 rule and immutable storage in the Netherlands and Germany.
Zero-touch continuous backup
Block-level change tracking runs silently in the background. Users never have to remember a thing.
Works offline and roaming
No VPN. Changes queue locally and sync over any connection: home Wi-Fi, hotspot or hotel network.
File or full-device restore
Restore a single file in seconds via self-service, or a full bare-metal device in under 30 minutes.
Immutable, with ransomware rollback
Object Lock storage can't be encrypted or deleted. Roll back to any clean point.
Configurable retention
Keep versions from 30 days up to 7 years.
Audit-ready reporting
Per-device backup status, retention logs and restore evidence, generated for auditors.
How it works
Up and running in three steps
No rip-and-replace and no long project. Our team helps you at every step.
- 01
Deploy the agent
A small agent installs silently via Intune, GPO, RMM or MSI. End users see and do nothing.
- 02
Protect continuously
Block-level backups sync over any connection, AES-256 encrypted before they leave the device.
- 03
Recover instantly
Users restore their own files; IT runs full device restores to any hardware from one console.
FAQ
Common questions
Why do I need endpoint backup next to server backup?
Most teams back up servers but not laptops, while that is where remote workers keep contracts, client notes and design files.
Does it work when a laptop is offline or away from the office?
Yes. The agent runs wherever the device is. Changes queue locally while offline and sync automatically when it reconnects. No VPN needed.
Isn't OneDrive or SharePoint sync enough?
No. Sync is built for collaboration, not protection. It lacks immutability, point-in-time versions and audit logs, and encrypted files sync straight through.
Will the agent slow down laptops?
No. Block-level tracking moves only changed data, bandwidth throttling keeps it out of the way, and the agent is under 50 MB.
Where is the data stored?
Only in Tier III data centres in the Netherlands and Germany, under EU law. A GDPR Data Processing Agreement is included.
