Database backup
Database backup with point-in-time recovery
Your databases run your business. Mindtime backs them up consistently to immutable storage in Dutch and German data centres, and rolls them back to the moment before something went wrong.
In short
What is Database backup?
Database backup with Mindtime takes consistent, immutable copies of your databases and keeps them in Tier III data centres in the Netherlands and Germany. Point-in-time recovery rolls a database back to the moment before an incident, and automated checks confirm every backup can actually be restored.
- What we back up
- Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and Oracle Database
- How
- Engine-native methods: VSS, binary logs, WAL archiving, RMAN
- Where it is stored
- ISO 27001 certified Tier III data centres in the Netherlands and Germany
- How you restore
- A table or a whole database, to a point in time; rows too for SQL Server
The risk
Downtime and data loss are not an option
A database backup only counts if it is consistent, untouched and restorable. That is where most setups fall short.
Ransomware
Encryption and deletion
Attackers go after database backups to make recovery impossible. Immutable copies block encryption and deletion.
Consistency
Dirty restores
A copy taken mid-transaction can restore to a corrupt state. Engine-aware backups capture a consistent state.
58%
Untested restores fail
A backup nobody has restored is an assumption. Mindtime verifies backups automatically.
What's covered
Every major database engine
Each engine is protected the way it is designed to be backed up.
Windows and Linux
Microsoft SQL Server
- VSS-aware snapshots, no downtime
- Log shipping for continuous protection
- Restore rows, tables or databases
Open source
MySQL
- Binary-log streaming with continuous validation
- Table-level restores
- Staging to test and dev
Open source
PostgreSQL
- Continuous WAL archiving
- Point-in-time recovery
- Automated consistency checks
Open source
MariaDB
- Snapshot-based image backups
- Changed block tracking
- AES-256 in transit and at rest
Enterprise
Oracle Database
- RMAN integration
- Block-level incremental forever
- Verification restores in an isolated vault
What's included
How Mindtime protects it
Standard with every Mindtime backup, on top of the 3-2-1-1-0 rule and immutable storage in the Netherlands and Germany.
Immutable storage
Backup blocks can't be changed, overwritten or deleted, so ransomware can't reach them.
Point-in-time recovery
Roll back to the moment before an incident instead of to last night's backup.
Automated verification
Backups are restored in an isolated environment and checked, without touching production.
Anomaly monitoring
Unusual I/O patterns that can signal ransomware trigger an alert early.
Retention and audit trails
GDPR-ready retention policies, audit trails and multi-factor approval.
Managed by engineers
Our engineers deploy, monitor and tune the service. Choose backup only, or add standby infrastructure with disaster recovery.
How it works
Up and running in three steps
No rip-and-replace and no long project. Our team helps you at every step.
- 01
Map your databases
A solution architect maps your databases and their dependencies and agrees recovery targets with you.
- 02
Deploy and validate
We deploy the agents and validate your first test failover, typically within 10 days.
- 03
Monitor and recover
Every backup is checked automatically. Restore a table or a database whenever you need to.
FAQ
Common questions
Which databases do you support?
Microsoft SQL Server (on Windows and Linux), MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and Oracle Database.
What is point-in-time recovery?
The ability to restore a database to a specific moment, for example just before a bad deployment or an attack, instead of to the last full backup.
Do restore tests affect production?
No. Verification restores run in an isolated Mindtime environment. You can also stage restores to test or development without touching production.
Backup only, or disaster recovery too?
Both are possible. Backup as a Service protects the data; Disaster Recovery as a Service adds standby infrastructure so you can fail over quickly.
